Waterloo Station

Loading map...
The current station at Waterloo was built in 1922, and has 21 platforms and a 250 metre-long concourse. This virtual tour shows the main entrance, known as the Victory Arch. The arch was built as a memorial to staff who died in the two world wars, and the inscription reads 'Dedicated to the employees of the company who fell in the wars'. The station itself suffered extensive damage in the Second World War, but was able to provide shelter for scores of Londoners during the blitz.

Familiar to film-buffs worldwide for its immortalisation in the 1945 David Lean film, Brief Encounter, the station was more recently a location in The Bourne Ultimatum. Scroll around in the virtual tour, and above the bridge you can see the top of the London IMAX cinema opposite the Waterloo entrance.
