The Royal Courts of Justice

Loading map...
This imposing Victorian neo-Gothic structure is The Royal Courts of Justice (also known as the Law Courts), sitting opposite St Clement Danes church on the Strand near Temple Bar, the border of the City of London.

Opened by Queen Victoria in 1882, the courts are home to the Supreme Court - comprising the High Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal. There are more than 1‚000 rooms within the Courts and even a not-so-secret corridor apparently known as the 'Chicken Run'! Anyone may go along and watch a trial taking place at the court (apart from private family cases) which gives everybody the chance to see the workings or the law in action.
