Centre Point

Loading map...
Built under exceedingly odd circumstances, Centre Point was reviled at the time of its construction, with architecture students so enraged by the design that they had planned to storm the building - led by their lecturer, a certain Ken Livingstone! However in 1995 the building was granted Grade II Listed status and Royal Fine Art Commission said Centre Point had 'elegance worthy of a Wren steeple'. The controversial building occupies land originally intended to be a roundabout at the intersection of Oxford Street, New Oxford Street, Charing Cross Road and Tottenham Court Road.
