Andrewes Highwalk, Barbican

Loading map...
Andrewes Highwalk is one of the high pathways used to navigate the Barbican Estate. Walking along these 'highwalks' you have the opportunity for a new perspective on London - looking out over the Barbican Estate and Barbican Centre, watching the ducks on the lake (or the Canadian Geese, who are considered a major nuisance at the development!), the people visiting the theatre and see the City of London's skies.

There is an Andrewes House in the Barbican, and both the resiedential block and the walkway were names after Lancelot Andrewes, a 16th century clergyman, scholar and contributor to the King James Bible - the English version of the Bible which was still in mainstream use until the mid-twentieth century.
